The venue on Concorde Street is only ten minutes walk from Luton station. It's between Hitchin Road and High Town Road.
Walking from the station area, go towards High Town across the footbridge. Cross Midland Road (zebra) turn left then immediately right onto High Town Road past the Railway pub. Turn right at the Freeholder (mini roundabout) onto York Street. You will see the Community Centre on your left.
The car park shown on the map has a low-fronted wall facing Hitchin Road. Access is from Concord Street which is the turning from Hitchin Road immediatley uphill from Annie McGuires pub (closed).
Entertainment
We are lining up live music on Thursday evening from the Emerald Pipe Band and Friday evening from Celtic folk fusion band enQ to fit in with the Celtic theme of one of our bars. On Saturday night local Rock group Cerberus, who are in their 20th year together, will perform a mix of their original material and Classic rock covers; they will be supported by another Luton based metal band Arnika.
Buy a souvenir
Our CAMRA Products shop will provide a wide variety of books and other items for sale, including the 2008 Good Beer Guide.
The beers will be served in two halls so those that still want to hear themselves drink can in the quiet(er!) hall.
Luton is a NON-SMOKING festival but there will be a pass-out system for smokers.
South Beds CAMRA Festivals page
The 25th Luton Beer Festival runs from Thursday 14th to Saturday the 16th of February at the Hightown Sports and Arts Centre. This festival is run by the South Beds branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, in association with Active Luton. All the CAMRA staff working at the Festival are unpaid volunteers.
As our Festival co-insides with the start of CAMRA Community Pubs Week 16th – 23rd February 2008 we will also be heavily publishing any local events.
The festival is open:
Thursday 5pm to 11pm, entry on Thursday evening is £2.50
Friday 12pm to 11pm, Friday before 6pm £2.50 and after 6pm £3.50
Saturday 11am to 11pm, Saturday before 6pm £2.50 and after 6pm £1.50.
CAMRA Members get free entry except Friday after 6pm where they will be charged £1.50.
The beer festival will have a range of real ales, foreign beers, cider and perry.
Real Ales
We have selected some 80 real ales from independent breweries, mostly new to the festival, but with the welcome return of a few old favourites. We have milds, bitters, stouts and porters, and powerful barley wines, plus a few brews with unusual ingredients such as fruit and spices – hopefully something to please everyone. Following the success of last year’s Welsh beer bar, we will be devoting one bar to Celtic Beers. This will feature beers from Scotland, Wales, Cornwall and hopefully The Isle of Man.
As we are celebrating our Silver Jubilee we will also be serving some beers especially brewed to mark this milestone.
On Thursday evening there will be an opportunity to meet some of the Brewers of the fine ales available. We will also be announcing the Winner of South Bedfordshire Pub of the Year 2008.
Cider, perry and bottled beer
We also have a range of traditional cider and perry plus a selection of continental bottled beers. Download the Cider List.
