LocAle
CAMRA LocAle is an accreditation scheme to promote pubs that sell locally-brewed real ale.
The aim is to recude the miles the beer travels from brewery to bar.
The scheme builds on a growing demand for high quality local produce and an increased awareness of 'green' issues.
Everyone benefits from local pubs stocking locally-brewed real ale: -
- Pubs - as stocking local real ales can increase pub visits
- Consumers - who enjoy greater beer choice and diversity
- Local brewers - who gain from increased sales
- The environment - due to fewer beer-miles resulting in less pollution and road congestion
- Tourism - due to an incresed snse of local identity and pride - let's celebrate what makes our locality different.
In the South Bedfordshire branch, we've identified several breweries which we deem local enough to qualify for LocAle accreditation: -
- B&T, Shefford
- Buntingford, Royston
- Chiltern, Terrick (nr Wendover)
- Concrete Cow, Milton Keynes
- Potton, Potton
- Tring, Tring
- Wells & Young's, Bedford
- White Park, Cranfield
Look out for the window-stickers and pump-clip headers identifying locally-brewed ale in local pubs serving beers from these breweries.

Please be aware that things change quite rapidly in the pub trade and whilst we try to keep as up to date as possible we rely heavily on feedback from pubgoers out there. If any information in this list is incorrect or lacking please let us know.
